Team Solent Kestrels are excited to confirm the return of Shefield native Gregoire Durand for the 2024/25 NBL Division 2 season. The 6'5 wing will return to the south coast for his second stint with the club, after spending a season with Hemel Storm and completing his degree at Hertfordshire University.
Greg grew up playing in the Sheffield Sharks junior programme before he made the switch to Charnwood College where he spent 3 years with their EABL squad. All of this before attending Howard College, playing at the JUCO level for two seasons. Upon his return to the UK Durand moved to the south coast for his first spell with the programme, where he featured early on for the Divison 1 Men's team, before finishing the season with Coach Sylvain Donnaeud's Division 2 squad. Greg stayed a further year where he was a mainstay in Coach Ben Stanley's NBL D1 team followed by this past season with Hemel Storm.
The versatile wing did a little bit of everything for Coach Stanley's side in NBL Division 1 through the 2022/23 season, posting averages of 8.5 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 2.4 apg as they earned a playoff spot. Coach Guymon will be hoping for more of the same from Durand this coming season.
Coach Guymon added, "Greg is a player we are familiar with at the club having spent two seasons with us previously and we are really excited to welcome him back. He is a versatile wing that can stretch the floor for us as well as create offensively, he also is somebody that is a high character team guy and will compliment the culture we have built with the returning group."
