Team Solent Kestrels can announce that we have parted ways with WNBL D1 Head Coach Robbie Connell by mutual consent.
The change in coaching staff will see assistant coach Annie Scanlon take on the reigns as Head Coach for the remainder of the season. Scanlon will also be supported by Head of Girls Basketball at the Kestrels, Vicky Milner and long time Kestrels Coach/Player Ryan Payne.
The club would like to thank Robbie for his tireless efforts over the last two seasons as both assistant and head coach of our women’s senior team, during which time he was part of our League and Playoff double winning coaching staff for the 2022/23 season.
Robbie commented, "I just want to thank Kestrels for the opportunity to coach the Women's senior team this year. We knew it would be tough and will continue to be so but I wish them the best of luck for the last few games of the season."
Club Director Matt Bishop added, “Robbie has added a lot of energy and passion to the club in his short time within the ladies programme. He assisted Ben Stanley in their double winning season last year and this year has led our young squad in a very competitive league. Robbie is well regarded throughout the club and we hope he’ll have a part to play within our coaching team moving forward and I’d like to personally and on behalf of the club thank him for his committment and dedication to our ladies programme.”
